Product Knowledge
Melamine resin is an extremely durable and break- resistant compound. It is created under very high temperatures and is molded according to the desired shapes, mainly dinnerware. The products are then decorated with designs, which are customizable according to the orders.
Melamine has the feel and look of porcelain dinnerware, however is shatterproof and chip-resistant. Melamine’s durability makes it a good substitute for porcelain dinnerware for hotels, restaurants and the catering industry (also known as HORECA) as well as for household daily use. Melamine is ideal for children as it is BPA- free, lead-free and break resistant.
Melamine Safety
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved melamine as 100% safe for food contact and packaging. All ONYX Designs consist of 100% pure melamine and are considered food grade. The NSF (National Safety Foundation) has also approved melamine as meeting public health and safety standards.
Melamine Use
Melamine retains heat very well but is not recommended for microwave, oven and stovetop use. ONYX recommends using melamine products only between 0°C and 120°C.
Caring for Melamine Products
ONYX melamine products are dishwasher safe on the top rack, however we do recommend hand washing with a mild detergent and sponge for best results. Avoid abrasives and bleach.
